In Paris, Epiphany is a highly anticipated event, with exclusive king cake creations from top luxury houses, innovative works by celebrated pastry chefs, and the craftsmanship of talented bakers vying for the crown. This year, a new entry has caught everyone's eye: the King Cake from the Élysée Palace. Following its pâté en croûte and Christmas log, the official residence of the French President continues its culinary tradition with a flaky, buttery cake to savor this January.

Available in the institution’s café, the galette from Maison Élysée was crafted by Fabrice Desvignes, head of the Palace kitchens, a renowned Meilleur Ouvrier de France and Bocuse d’Or winner, along with his team of pastry chefs. The recipe focuses on simplicity and quality: a frangipane made with raw almonds, subtly flavored with Martinique rum and vanilla from La Réunion.
A perfectly balanced treat, where the gentle aroma of vanilla adds a comforting roundness without overpowering the almond. The puff pastry, golden and slightly caramelized, provides a pleasing contrast of textures, while the entire pastry remains tender and never dry. A quick note: the slices served at the café do not include the hidden fève. If you’re hoping to find it, you'll need to opt for the whole galette designed for six people.
This exclusive fève, crafted in ceramic by the French manufacturer Colas de Clamecy—an honored Living Heritage Company—depicts the façade of the Élysée Palace. A clever and refined reinterpretation of the traditional King’s Cake, it’s generous, expertly executed, and downright delicious: an instant favorite.
The traditional King’s Cake will be available until January 17, 2026 inclusive at the Café of the Élysée Residence. The café is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is served at a price of 8€ per slice for on-site tasting (table reservations recommended), and 40€ for the whole cake to take away. In this case, it’s best to arrive right at opening or, at the very least, early in the afternoon to avoid any disappointment due to limited daily stock.
A traditional King’s Cake that highlights both the flavor and the craftsmanship behind it.
