Heritage Days are making a grand return to the very heart of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. On September 19 and 20, 2026, the monument will offer a special guided route for visitors. A pivotal moment to rediscover this Gothic jewel as we haven’t seen it for years. Reservations will open soon.

In September, people rush to the museums, monuments, institutions and châteaux of Paris and Île-de-France to discover the many secrets the capital holds, during the 43rd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine. Two days to explore history in a different way, to push open doors that are rarely opened and to experience culture in a new light, all for free!

And this year, Notre-Dame de Paris opens its doors to all lovers of Paris. After several editions confined to the forecourt due to restoration work, the cathedral finally reveals itself again to enthusiasts of the Journées du Patrimoine 2026. A masterpiece of French Gothic art, perched in the heart of the Île de la Cité since 1163, Notre-Dame has stood the test of time, witnessed Napoleon’s coronation, the Revolution, two world wars, and even a cult novel by Victor Hugo.

Its fire in 2019 shook the world. After years of work, the cathedral reopened to the public, more captivating than ever. Take part in this edition of Heritage Days to rediscover the monument and its many secrets...

Parisians and Île-de-France residents are invited to take part in a range of activities over the weekend of Saturday, 20 September to Sunday, 21 September 2025. Please note that visits are by reservation only.
