For the 43rd edition of Heritage Days, the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris will throw open its doors on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 September 2026. A chance to discover this iconic landmark on the Place de la Concorde.

For this 43rd edition of the Heritage Days, this iconic monument on the Place de la Concorde opens its doors on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026. And to be perfectly clear from the outset, you’re bound to be dazzled as you explore this site from the era of the Royal Guard’s Stores to the Al Thani Collection, which brings together masterpieces from Antiquity to the present day. These tours inside the Hôtel de la Marine also offer a chance to admire the sumptuous ceremonial rooms and to enjoy an exceptional, unobstructed view of Place de la Concorde from the loggia.

Created in the 18th century by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the King's first architect, theHôtel de la Marine housed the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne until 1798, when it became the headquarters of the Ministry and then the Naval Staff for over two hundred years.

  • Visit to the 'Animalia' exhibition, Bestiary from the Al Thani Collection, at the Hôtel de la Marine

    To mark the 43rd edition of European Heritage Days, discover at the Hôtel de la Marine the exhibition Animalia. Bestiaire de la Collection Al Thani, with free admission while seats last.

    The Al Thani Collection at the Hôtel de la Marine presents an exhibition that examines how, across different eras and regions, cultures have been fascinated by the animal realm and drawn inspiration from it.

    Through more than 120 works from the Al Thani Collection, many of which are being unveiled in Paris for the first time, the show explores depictions of real and imagined creatures from civilizations spread across four continents, from the 3rd millennium BCE to the early 20th century.

    At the same time, visitors this weekend can also enjoy Astre Mobile, a piece presented as part of Paris Design Week.

    Astre Mobile, conceived by the studio Maison Lacmé, is a transparent car transformed into a work of art, blending craft, material and imagination.

  • Tour of the 18th-century apartments at the Hôtel de la Marine

    As part of the 43rd European Heritage Days, discover the Hôtel de la Marine’s permanent visit route.

    The permanent route guides you through the three iconic spaces that define the monument. In the former apartments of the Crownward Intendants, step into the daily life and intimate world of an 18th‑century aristocratic family. Experience the refined tastes of that era across all branches of decorative arts—furniture, silver, woodwork, wallpaper, and ceramics.

    Proceed into the state rooms adorned with gilded details, relics of the Navy’s presence for more than two centuries. Finally, enjoy a unique view of the Place de la Concorde from the loggia, a true balcony on French history.

    Meanwhile, this weekend the public can also take in Hanjimania and Astre Mobile, two exhibitions presented as part of Paris Design Week.

    Hanjimania explores the dialogue between French and Korean designers around the traditional hanji paper.

    Astre Mobile, created by Maison Lacmé, is a transparent car transformed into a work of art—a fusion of craftsmanship, materiality and imagination.
