During Paris Design Week, design takes over the capital and refuses to be limited to showroom spaces. Galleries, studios, institutions and monuments become stops on a route that unveils new writing in creation, crafts, and the materials that inspire designers and artisans. A Paris-wide journey that sparks dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation, with encounters that sometimes find their perfect setting. The new edition runs from 10 to 19 September 2026.
On Concorde Square, the Hôtel de la Marine is playing on two fronts with Hanjimania and Astre Mobile, presented from 9 to 27 September 2026 (from the 10th for Hanjimania). This refined setting to discuss decorative arts hosts on one side a millennial Korean paper, and on the other an automotive sculpture crafted by master artisans. The two installations will extend beyond Paris Design Week and will also be featured during the European Heritage Days, right at the heart of this XVIIIth‑century monument.

With Hanjimania, paper gains presence. Curated by Catherine Lurault and An KangEun, the exhibition fuses French design with Korean craftsmanship around hanji, produced for over a thousand years from mulberry fibers. Pierre Yovanovitch, Constance Guisset, Aline Asmar d’Amman, Studio KO, Harry Nuriev and Jérémy Pradier-Jeauneau seize this material to bring it into furniture, lighting and even more sculptural forms, alongside artists and Korean master artisans. Here, paper isn’t left flat: translucent, pleated, braided or thickened, it becomes a true design material. Co-organized with the North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea as part of the 140th anniversary of France–Korea diplomatic relations, the installation is included in the Hôtel de la Marine admission (paid).
Just a few steps away, the mood shifts. In the Cour de l’Intendant, Astre Mobile transforms a transparent car into a total work, straddling Art Car and cabinet of curiosities. Conceived by Antoine Tauvel for Maison Lacmé, the piece unites about ten French artisans around materials such as onyx, driftwood, leather, porcelain, urushi lacquer, feathers, shells or metallic embroidery. The dashboard features feather marquetry, the hubcaps are carved from onyx, and the logo becomes jewelry—a creation born from drawings, maquettes and prototypes before the hands of artisans. The first work born from this shared studio exploration, Astre Mobile nudges the car toward gesture, material and imagination. It makes its première appearance at the Hôtel de la Marine and can be explored for free, without a ticket and without reservation in the Cour de l’Intendant.
