On the occasion of the 43rd edition of Heritage Days, the Palais Galliera will throw its doors wide open on September 19 and 20, 2026 for a special tour. Take a look behind the scenes of fashion and the iconic creations that have defined style through the ages. Note: admission is charged.

On the museum and monument side, the Palais Galliera, a showcase for thehistory of fashion in Paris, also joins in this great cultural celebration: it's one of the places not to be missed during the Journées du Patrimoine. The museum was originally the brainchild of the Duchess of Galliera, to house her art collection. Following her death in 1888, the architect Paul-René-Léon Ginain continued the work, which was already well advanced, until the monument was completed in early 1894.

Finally, in 1895, the site was inaugurated as a Museum of Industrial Art, and was definitively dedicated to fashion in 1977, by the Mairie de Paris. Today, the Palais Galliera is a legendary Parisian landmark, recognizable by its "Beaux-Arts" aesthetic and its privileged square offering a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower. The rooms and galleries still house the collections of the great couturiers who have embroidered thehistory of fashion over the years.

Exhibition Weaving, Embroidery, Sublimation: The Craftsmanship of Fashion
The Palais Galliera launches a series of exhibitions exploring craft excellence. This opening show focuses on the ornamental arts—woven fabrics, print, embroidery, lace, and artificial flowers—that elevate and adorn clothing and accessories. The techniques are explored through the flower motif, a perennial emblem in textile art and fashion since the 18th century.

A stroll-through tour of Dior Gallery at the Palais Galliera
Nestled in one of Paris's most iconic fashion districts, La Galerie Dior and the Palais Galliera—the Paris Fashion Museum—join forces to offer an exceptional stroll through their fashion heritage, rich in history and priceless pieces.

Led by a guide, participants will explore two complementary approaches to preserving and sharing Parisian fashion heritage, two stories of remarkable collections and exceptional venues, and two distinctive ways of displaying fashion.

A visit followed by a meeting with a textile conservator
After a brief introduction to the aims of the exhibition "Weave, Embroider, Sublimate: The Know-How of Fashion," delivered by guest speaker Anastasia Ozoline, the museum’s textile conservator, she will outline several facets of her trade— notably the steps and techniques involved in restoration — and showcase some of the pieces she has worked on.
