It's a good idea for the curious and the passionate alike . It has to be said that the Journées du Patrimoine have something for everyone: from fashion houses to major institutions, from the craziest architecture to historic spots, there's something for everyone! And one of the highlights of this year's event is... the Bourse de Commerce.
This iconic building in the Halles district was built in 1767. Originally a wheat market, it was destroyed by fire in 1854 and converted into the Bourse de Commerce, home to the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was inaugurated as such on September 24, 1889, during theExposition Universelle, which also saw the birth of the Eiffel Tower.
Listed as a Monument Historique, the Bourse de Commerce has now been transformed into an exhibition space, showcasing works of art from François Pinault's collection. In keeping with its history, a restaurant awaits you just beneath the dome: La Halle aux Grains.
Tour of the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2026, the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection opens its doors to the public free of charge, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Booking is recommended.
With family, alone, or with friends, discover the building’s history and its architectural elements—from the 16th century to today. The iron dome—one of the first built in France—the Machine Hall, the double-spiral staircase, or the concrete cylinder by Tadao Ando.
Explore the early reveals of the exhibition “Remember Me,” a sensitive journey through photography that unfolds as a free-flowing composition, where works converse across eras. In particular, delve into the monographs dedicated to Irving Penn in Gallery 2, bringing together an exceptional array of his works, and to Raymond Depardon in Gallery 3, offering a view of the French countryside where the image becomes a delicate archive of reality. In the basement, Coleman Collins’ video questions the links between memory, history and the reproduction of images, while Nan Goldin’s film underscores their emotional power and their capacity to spark reminiscence.
Also enjoy the final days of the Laura Lamiel exhibition, visible in the building’s historic shop windows and in the Machine Hall, echoing the themes of trace, presence and memory that run through the show.
Our mediators—speakers—will accompany you in exploring the building’s historic architecture and in your visit to the current exhibitions.
