It's the not-to-be-missed event that brings together the curious and the passionate in September. The Journées du Patrimoine is the event that invites us to explore our treasures in a new light, with a weekend full of guided and self-guided tours, events, workshops and other surprises at the many participating sites. Museums, castles, monuments, churches and libraries are all part of the fun, but that's not all!
The Heritage Days are also an opportunity to enjoy exceptional openings in places that are normally closed to the public, including embassies, ministries, hospitals, and much more. This cultural event is synonymous with great deals and broad appeal. Whether you’re a fan of history, art, fashion, science, or botany, there’s always a outing to match your passion. The next dates are the weekend of September 19–20, 2026 for a promising 43rd edition!
Education is also in the spotlight during the Journées du Patrimoine! Lycées, universities and grandes écoles are sharing the stage to let us discover their secret treasures. TheÉcole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture Paris-Malaquais is waiting to welcomeyou to the École des Beaux-Arts site for this year's event, with a program specially designed for the occasion!
Art Deco Spotlight: The Architecture of a 1930s Iconic Building
From the banks of the Seine, you can admire its slender silhouette, like the prow of a ship, at the intersection of three streets in Paris’s 6th arrondissement. This glass-walled landmark from the 1930s is a beacon of its era’s architecture. Built to flood the studios of architecture and art students with light, it now houses the Paris-Malaquais PSL Architecture School annex—the Callot Building.
> Climb to the 5th floor to marvel at its striking design and the spectacular view over Paris! Completed in 1931 by architect Roger-Henri Expert, who also designed the Normandie’s interiors, this five-story gem remains a standout of interwar Parisian architecture.
> During the day, the Paris Art Deco Society hosts three lectures on the 5th floor:
• 11:00 — The architecture of the Jacques Callot building, by Roger-Henri Expert (20 min)
• 14:00 — The architecture of the Jacques Callot building, by Roger-Henri Expert (20 min)
• 15:30 — "1931, Beaux-Arts Boys or the American architects’ boulevard invasion." A nostalgic account of a journey by 50 American architects, former Beaux-Arts students (1h)
The Paris Art Deco Society will also outline its efforts to preserve 1930s architectural heritage.

Did you know? The Paris-Malaquais – PSL School of Architecture sits on the historic site of architecture teaching, the Beaux-Arts de Paris, a place both schools are fortunate to share. It’s a remarkable spot, a microcosm of Paris’s history, of art history in general, and of architecture in particular. Every building on the site is listed as a historic monument.
On Saturday, September 19, for European Heritage Days, architecture students invite you to try your hand at architectural drawing near the shaded fountain in the mulberry courtyard. Whether for 5 minutes or a full half hour, no matter your age or your level, take a moment to sketch as you wish — one of the best ways to discover and understand the space around you.

Exhibition "41 Fragments for Living"
The Callot Gallery, founded in 2025 by the École nationale supérieure d'architecture Paris-Malaquais – PSL, presents the exhibition "41 Fragments to Inhabit," opened for European Heritage Days.
The exhibition-laboratory "41 Fragments to Inhabit" brings together 41 young architects, urban planners, and landscape designers under 41 years old to share their view of the act of inhabiting today. 41 videos, texts, and objects bear witness to their commitments in the urgent need to rethink housing, its uses, and its methods of fabrication.
Focus on Plan Libre magazine, with an installation devised by the editorial team around its housing-focused issues (from September 17 to 23).
