In this very sunny period, a new heatwave is hitting the Paris region. While the sight of fine weather may be delightful, the rising temperatures do entail risks for our health. Here are the recommendations and advice to follow in hot weather.

Heatwave alert! Temperatures are currently rising across much of France, particularly in the Ile-de-France region, where the thermometer is topping 30 degrees. Rising temperatures also entail health risks for the most vulnerable.

Insolation, dehydration, malaise, even death... too high temperatures are not without consequences. So, to cope with the heatwave and this new episode of heatwave in Paris and the Ile-de-France region, here are the recommendations and advice to follow:

- Drink water regularly, without waiting until you're thirsty
- Refresh yourself regularly throughout the day by moistening your face and body
- Eat enough
- Avoid drinking alcohol
- Avoid going out at the hottest times
- Avoid peak travel times
- Favoring cool places
- Avoiding physical activity
- Closing windows and shutters during the day
- Contacting your GP and asking for advice on your health problems and treatments
- Be careful with elderly people, who are isolated during a heatwave: check up on them regularly and encourage them to register on the lists provided by town halls, so that they can benefit from the help of volunteers.

Among those most vulnerable to heat waves are the over-65s, children (especially under-4s), people in bed or in wheelchairs, those suffering from chronic or acute illnesses, and people taking medications that can affect their ability to adapt to heat, such as diuretics or neuroleptics.
