Heat wave in Paris: the Palais de Tokyo closes until July 15

The heatwave is once again reshaping how visitors experience the Palais de Tokyo... With temperatures climbing in Paris, the contemporary art museum is extending its hours through Wednesday, 15 July 2026 inclusive. The institution also notes on its website that it is not air-conditioned, in keeping with its environmental pledge, which can make some galleries particularly hard to keep at a comfortable temperature during periods of intense heat.

The exhibitions by Jesse Darling, Benoît Piéron and Cathy de Monchaux, all installed on the ground floor, are thus closed to the public until July 15 inclusive. Visitors who had planned to explore these three proposals will have to wait a few more days. The other exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo remain accessible, with adjusted pricing: the full price goes to 10 euros and the reduced to 6 euros. These tickets are only offered on site, directly at the museum's reception.

Please note the schedule: on Sunday, July 12 and Monday, July 13, 2026, no exhibitions will be open to visitors. During these two days, all exhibition spaces at the Palais de Tokyo will be closed. This exceptional closure also affects the routes that are usually accessible during heatwaves.

The building won’t be entirely inaccessible, all told. The Tokyo Waves program remains open on the Jardin level, in a part of the Palace touted as cooler. The Café and the bookstore also stay open to welcome visitors. So you can still drop by on site, even though visits to the exhibitions are greatly reduced, or even impossible on July 12 and 13.
