Navigo pass fares are set to rise again next year. Île-de-France Mobilités has announced an increase of 2.6%, or 86.40 euros per month in 2024, to cross the region by public transport.

It's a gesture that very many Ile-de-France residents make every month or week: topping up their Navigo pass, while others have opted for the year-round pass. While the cost of the Navigo pass had not risen since 2017, with a fare of €75.20 (all zones), it has climbed by around ten euros in 2023 to reach €84.10. And there's more to come, as the rate is set to change again in 2024!

In February 2022, the Cour des Comptes criticized Île-de-France Mobilités for a deficit of over 1.3 billion euros. After a particularly high contribution for users in 2023, Valérie Pécresse announced that she was looking for other players to charge, to avoid pushing the price of the Navigo above 100 euros. Together with Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate for Transport, she signed an agreement this week to ensure that companies in the Paris region, tourists and local authorities will also contribute.

The increase in the Navigo fare will therefore be less than last year's, and should keep pace with inflation, i.e. 2.6%, by January 1, 2024. This means a monthly cost for users of 86.40 euros per month. Valérie Pécresse estimates that, without this,"an increase of 12 euros would have had to beapplied". With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the horizon, IDFM needs to generate revenue, in particular to launch the extensions of lines 11 and 14 and prepare the Grand Paris Express.
