Early closure of the Château de Versailles and its gardens due to the heatwave in July 2026

Right now, a scorching sun is beating down on the capital and its region. Paris and the Île-de-France are enduring a severe heatwave and the area has been placed on red alert for this week. Cultural life is feeling the impact: some museums and monuments are closing or adjusting hours for visitor safety.

This is notably the case for one of France’s most iconic landmarks. In the Yvelines, the Château de Versailles has announced an early closure from July 11 to 12, 2026. The domaine du Roi Soleil is tweaking its timings: the château, its gardens, and the Hall of Mirrors will close at 16:30 (last entry at 15:45) while the Domaine de Trianon closes at 16:15 (last entry at 15:30). The park, for its part, remains open until 20:30.
