With everything changing in September, comes the price of the Navigo pass! The Imagine R Navigo pass will see a further price increase from September 1, 2025 for the 2025-2026 school year. This increase applies to all passes for young people in the Paris region.
Theincrease in the Imagine R Navigo Pass will affect almost 1.4 million young people in the Paris region who use public transport on a daily basis. This fare increase follows on from the increase in the monthly Navigo Pass which had already taken effect in January 2025, rising from 86.40 euros to 88.80 euros.
The Imagine R school and student pass increases from 382.40 euros to 392.30 euros for the 2025-2026 school year, including the 8 euro administration fee. This pass is intended for secondary school pupils, students and apprentices under the age of 26 living in the Île-de-France region.
The Imagine R Junior pass, for children under 11, costs 24.80 euros, up from 16.80 euros previously, and still includes administration fees. This rise of 9.90 euros represents an increase of 2.8% for school and student passes.
This 2.8% increase is part of a protocol signed in 2023 between Île-de-France Mobilités and the government. The agreement provides for annual increases corresponding to "inflation + 1 point", i.e. 2.8% for 2025 with inflation estimated at 1.8%.
These additional revenues are intended to finance the extension of the Paris region transport network with the arrival of the new metro lines 15, 16, 17 and 18, representing an additional 330 km and 70 new stations by 2031. The aim is to avoid a sharp increase like the 25% rise in 2023 as a result of the Covid debt and inflation linked to the war in Ukraine.
The Île-de-France region is proposing a general grant of 100 euros for high school students wishing to acquire an Imagine R Pass. This subsidy replaces the former departmental subsidies, but according to the regional opposition, it does not fully compensate for the loss of local subsidies.
The City of Paris maintains its full reimbursement scheme for young Parisians who meet the eligibility criteria. The 2025-2026 reimbursement campaign will open on September 4, 2025 and close on June 30, 2026. Students on internships or work-study programs benefit from 50% reimbursement by their company.
Subscriptions to the Imagine R pass have been open since June 23, 2025, and will continue until April 30, 2026. The process is mainly carried out online on the Île-de-France Mobilités website, except for third-party payers who must apply by post.
For schoolchildren and juniors, the pass must start in September, while students can choose their start date between September and January. It should be noted that the dematerialization of the Imagine R pass, initially scheduled for the end of 2025, has been postponed until the first half of 2026.
