Don't panic if you see helicopters flying low over the capital over the next few days! The Paris Prefecture of Police has authorized these passages until June 13, 2023, in preparation for the July 14 celebration and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. For the national holiday, air force helicopters will be surveying the area between La Défense and theArc de Triomphe, to rehearse security for the flypast. You already saw them last Wednesday, and while they're taking a break this weekend, they'll be back on Monday and Tuesday!
Other helicopters have been commissioned by Olympic Broadcasting Services to"check that the radio transmission channels between the helicopters and the ground receiving stations are working properly, regardless of the helicopter's position", with almost a year to go before the Paris Olympic competition. It was also an opportunity to "take pictures of the Olympic sites and the main Parisian monuments" for promotional use on television.
A surprisingly loud noise, given that the overflights will be carried out at an altitude of between 1,500 and 2,500 feet, or between 457 and 762 meters! Especially as the overflights will be fairly regular around certain areas, which could worry local residents if they weren't made aware of them. Overflights will take place between 10 a.m. and 4.30 p.m., around tourist sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Champ-de-Mars, the Trocadero, the axis running from the Arc de Triomphe to the Hôtel de Ville, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Luxembourg Gardens, the Invalides, the Sacré-Coeur, the Moulin Rouge, the Accor Arena, the Chapelle Arena, Roland Garros and the Parc des Princes.
