The Eiffel Tower will be lit up in blue, white, and red on November 13, 2025, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks of November 13, 2015. Anne Hidalgo announced this tribute to the 130 victims, which will accompany the national day of remembrance in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower will be lit up in the colors of the French flag on Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13, 2025, ten years after the attacks that struck Paris. This blue, white, and red illumination pays tribute to the 130 victims of November 13, 2015, and their loved ones, as announced by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on social media on Monday. This powerful symbolic gesture will accompany the commemorative ceremonies planned in the capital.

The Iron Lady is thus decked out in the national colors to mark this painful date in recent history. "Paris and the entire nation are paying tribute this week to the victims of November 13, 2015, their families and loved ones," the elected official wrote on Instagram. She concludes her message with these words: "Paris remembers. We will never forget them."

This tricolor lighting will take place on the eve and the day of the national day of remembrance. On Thursday, November 13, tribute ceremonies will be held at all the sites affected by the attacks, in the presenceof Emmanuel Macron, Anne Hidalgo, and victims' associations. The memorial tour will begin at the Stade de France at 11:30 a.m., before continuing to the terraces of Le Petit Cambodge and Le Carillon, La Bonne Bière, Le Comptoir Voltaire, La Belle Équipe, and finally Le Bataclan. The highlight of the day will take place at 6 p.m. at the new memorial garden dedicated to November 13, 2015, located at Place Saint-Gervais in the 4th arrondissement.

How is the Eiffel Tower lit up in the colors of the flag?

Early risers may have had a preview of this luminous tribute. On November 6, at around 5 a.m., the Eiffel Tower was already lit up in the colors of the French flag, presumably for a technical test. Contrary to what one might think, these illuminations are not improvised. As Jean-François Martins, president of the Société de la Tour Eiffel, pointed out, "the Tower is not a PowerPoint presentation where you can change the color at the touch of a button." These special illuminations require several hours of preparation and the use of outdoor projectors and specialized service providers.

What are the other symbolic illuminations of the Eiffel Tower?

This illumination is part of a now established tradition for the capital's iconic monument. The Eiffel Tower is regularly used to mark tragic or festive events. It was turned off on the evening of the attacks of November 13, 2015, plunging Paris into darkness as a sign of mourning. More recently, it was lit up in blue and yellow for Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24, and in blue and white in support of Israel after the Hamas attack in October 2023.

Every year, the monument is also lit up in pink for the Pink October campaign against breast cancer. As the owner of the monument, the City of Paris is the only entity that can decide on these symbolic illuminations or blackouts, making it a true barometer of events affecting the capital and the world.

In short, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we look up at the Parisian sky to see the Iron Lady standing tall, illuminated in blue, white, and red. A moment of collective reflection so that we never forget that tragic night that shook Paris and the whole of France.
