Public transportation in Paris and Île-de-France will face disruptions from January 19 to 25, 2026, including overnight closures on numerous metro, RER, tram, and Transilien lines operated by RATP and SNCF. These interruptions are due to scheduled maintenance work.

A challenging week lies ahead for public transportation in Paris and Île-de-France from Monday, January 19, through Sunday, January 25, 2026. Following last week’s SNCF strike, this time the focus shifts to the extensive maintenance work scheduled by the RATP and the SNCF. Commuters using the metro, RER, and Transilien networks will face nightly disruptions on nearly all lines. If you plan to go out in the evenings this week, it’s highly recommended to check the schedules carefully before heading out. Here’s a roundup of all the expected disruptions.

Which Metro and Tram Lines Are Affected This Week?

On the Paris metro network, one line continues its modernization efforts:

  • Line 12: Until March 11, train service will be suspended on the entire line every Wednesday starting at 10 p.m. due to modernization work. Additionally, until February 15, there will be a complete shutdown on Sunday evenings from 10 p.m. If you're planning to go out on those nights, make sure to plan an alternative route.

On the tramway front, extended service disruptions continue to occur:

  • T1: Train service remains halted between Asnières-Quatre Routes and Gare de Saint-Denis, with disruptions extending to the rest of the line following damage caused by a third party at L'Île-Saint-Denis. Service resumption is expected by summer 2026.

  • T2: Until the end of February 2026, trains are suspended between Porte de Versailles and Suzanne Lenglen due to extensive modernization work. To travel from Suzanne Lenglen to Porte de Versailles, pedestrians can use the nearby Balard station on T3a.

How to plan your trips effectively this week?

This week, from January 19 to 25, 2026, the Île-de-France transit network will be heavily impacted by maintenance work. Most disruptions occur in the evenings after 8:30 PM, leaving rush hour unaffected. If you’re planning evening outings this week, make sure to check the Bonjour RATP and SNCF Connect apps for real-time updates. Pay special attention to significant closures on RER C, with trains running every two options from 9:10 PM on weekdays, and full shutdowns between Versailles and Paris over the weekend. If you’re traveling back after 10 PM, plan extra time or alternative routes to reach your destination.

Briefly, the week of January 19 to 25, 2026, will see the ongoing major maintenance work on the Île-de-France transit network. Both RATP and SNCF are taking this opportunity to upgrade their infrastructure, with work on Line 12 scheduled to continue through March. The RER D will face a particularly challenging weekend, with numerous service disruptions on Saturday and Sunday. If you need to travel late at night, consider using the Noctilien bus lines, which keep running across Paris and Île-de-France throughout the night. Good luck navigating this week of construction work!
