It’s one of the country’s proudest icons. Every day, 12 million French people push open the doors of a bakery to buy their baguette loaf. Some lean toward white baguette, others swear by sourdough or multigrain. And, of course, there are the unwavering fans of the traditional baguette.
Each year, tasty competitions reward the best traditional French baguettes from each department in Île-de-France. After spotlighting the laureates in Seine-Saint-Denis, we turn to the results and the winners in the Yvelines.
The 16th edition of the contest for the best traditional French baguette in the Yvelines took place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with numerous contenders split into three categories: employers/business owners, employees and apprentices. So, who are the lucky winners?
Franck Harcault, from the La Tradition bakery by Elio et Franck in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, takes the top prize in the Yvelines’ best traditional baguette contest (category "employers"). He beats Jérémy Gouley of the bakery-pastry shop Le Fournil des 4 Chemins in Mareil-Marly, who secures second place. Pierre Laigneau of the bakery-pastry shop L'Épi du Roi in Versailles, rounds out the podium in third place.
In the category "Staff", Younous Doucouré of Boulangerie Perot in Houilles takes first place in the competition, while Maxime Norroy of Boulangerie L'Épi du Roi in Versailles finishes first in the "Apprentices" category.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
