In the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, major changes are affecting public transport in Paris, including the scheduled closure of the Concorde metro station. Some of these changes will start on May 17! We tell you all about the station's gradual closure.

From May 17, the stop will no longer be served by line 12, and this restriction will be extended to lines 1 and 8 from June 17. These adjustments, necessary to prepare the Olympic sites, will continue until September 21.

The announcement made by RATP and the Paris Prefecture of Police indicates that these measures are essential to secure and develop the areas around the competition venues, notably the Place de la Concorde, which will be a central location for several Olympic events. The closures will also affect other strategic stations such as Tuileries and Champs-Elysées - Clémenceau, which are essential for the smooth flow of traffic in the capital.

Concorde station, located in the heart of Paris, plays a key role in the public transport network, facilitating access to major cultural and historical sites. Its closure will therefore necessitate a significant reorganization for the thousands of daily passengers who pass through this station. RATP has already begun communicating these changes via its digital platforms, to prepare users as effectively as possible for this transition.

The work will not be confined to closing stations. From June 1, the Place de la Concorde will be completely closed to traffic to allow the installation of the infrastructure required for the events. Areas such as the Champ de Mars-Trocadéro and the Invalides will also undergo major transformations from March onwards.

This series of changes is designed to ensure that the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games take place in the safest and most efficient conditions. However, they represent a considerable challenge for the day-to-day logistics of Paris residents and visitors, who will have to adapt to a transport network that will be severely disrupted during this period.

To alleviate any inconvenience caused, alternative routes and transport solutions will be offered to facilitate travel for those affected by the closures. RATP and the local authorities are committed to minimizing the impact of these works, and to providing all the necessary information to help users navigate the city efficiently during the transformations.
