If you had a view of Paris this Tuesday, December 3, 2024, you may have spotted a firework display rising above the Parisian rooftops in the late afternoon. Was it a surprise fireworks display? A rehearsal? A priori no. If Twitter users are to be believed, the fireworks were fired from the Esplanade des Invalides as part of a cab demonstration. The latter are protesting against the CPAM bill. The fireworks were therefore illegal.

The cab demonstration scheduled for September 5, 2025 in Paris and the Île-de-France region against the new pricing system for medical transport has officially been postponed. Throughout the day, several hundred cabs gathered in the vicinity of the Assemblée Nationale and Les Invalides to voice their dissatisfaction with the cut in fares for transporting sick people. On the Esplanade des Invalides, firecrackers and fireworks went off in protest. The pyrotechnic effects raised questions among Internet users, and across the capital for those who were up high at the time. This was not a rehearsal or preview of a planned event.
