Transport services in Paris and Île-de-France are wrapping up January with yet another week of extensive maintenance work. From Monday, January 26 to Sunday, February 1, 2026, the metro, RER, Transilien trains, and trams will be operating more selectively on certain lines. The RATP and the SNCF continue their major modernization projects, notably on RER E, which will be completely shut down starting Sunday evening.
Also note this Monday, January 26: a technical incident at Gare du Nord is causing substantial disruptions to the RER B and D lines. Travelers can expect delays, cancellations, and roughly every other train on the B line to be affected. If you're planning to travel this week, we recommend double-checking your schedules before heading out. Here’s a summary of all the disruptions to be aware of.
On the Paris metro network, one line continues its modernization efforts:
On the tramway network, several lines are still experiencing disruptions:
This Monday, January 26, 2026, is shaping up to be particularly challenging for commuters on RER B and RER D. An incident involving a track at Gare du Nord is causing significant disruptions across these two key lines of the Île-de-France network. As early as 7 a.m., the SNCF warned travelers of major delays, train cancellations, and service modifications. On RER B, trains on line D are forced to operate on the track normally reserved for line B, drastically reducing service to just one train every two. Meanwhile, on RER D, traffic between Orry-la-Ville and Corbeil, as well as from Goussainville to Melun, is experiencing severe slowdowns with delays of up to 30 minutes. If you're heading to Paris this Monday, it’s strongly advised to allow extra travel time or consider working from home if possible.
The RER lines are experiencing significant disruptions, including a complete shutdown of the RER E on Sunday evening:
The Transilien network continues to carry out its extensive overnight maintenance work on almost all lines:
January's final week in 2026 looks set to be particularly challenging for RER E commuters, as the line will be completely suspended from 10:30 p.m. this coming Sunday. If you're planning to travel late on Sunday, February 1st, make sure to choose an alternative route. Throughout the rest of the week, disruptions mainly occur in the evenings after 8 p.m., leaving morning rush hours largely unaffected. Regularly check the Bonjour RATP and SNCF Connect apps for live traffic updates. Also take note of daytime disruptions on Thursday and Friday on the RER D line between Combs-la-Ville-Quincy and Melun, occurring from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you have plans for outings this week, add some extra time to your schedule.
In brief, the week of January 26 to February 1, 2026, marks the close of the month with numerous major construction works across the Île-de-France network. Both the RATP and the SNCF are taking advantage of this period to upgrade their infrastructure ahead of February. One particular point to watch: the complete shutdown of the RER E line on Sunday evening, an exceptional situation that demands careful planning. The U line of Transilien also wraps up its intense month of work with nightly service interruptions. If you need to travel late at night, consider using the Noctilien bus lines, which continue to serve Paris and Île-de-France throughout the night. Wishing you good luck for this final week of January!
