Travelers on Transilien Line P in Seine-et-Marne are being warned: train services will be heavily disrupted between Coulommiers and Tournan-en-Brie for nearly six weeks this summer of 2026. The track and ballast renewal work is scheduled from Monday, July 13 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, inclusive. While lengthy, this closure has been described as essential to modernize and repair the aging infrastructure on this section of Brie.
SNCF Réseau has launched a major project known as "Ballast Track Renewal" (RVB) on the P-line, between Coulommiers and Mortcerf, with a budget of 25 million euros. The primary goals are threefold: to ensure the line’s optimal performance, enhance passenger safety, and reduce noise pollution for residents. On this section, 13 km of tracks and sleepers will be completely replaced. This large-scale operation is part of the regeneration plan for the Île-de-France network, overseen by SNCF Réseau and funded through the Île-de-France Mobilités 2026 investment program.
For local residents, the schedule can feel overwhelming. Over the past three years, commuters on the Coulommiers-Tournan line have already had to deal with early service suspensions, often linked to ongoing maintenance work, and many travelers complain about the lack of clarity regarding when service will return to normal. This major summer construction project aims to provide a lasting, structural solution to these recurring disruptions.
Replacement buses will be running between Coulommiers and Tournan, with increased service during peak hours. During off-peak times, two departures per hour are scheduled—one local bus and one direct. On weekends and public holidays, two hourly local buses spaced 30 minutes apart will operate, complemented by a direct service aligned with the trains on line P. Travel times will vary depending on the option chosen: approximately 55 minutes for the local bus, 30 minutes for the direct route, and 35 minutes for the semi-direct service.
Standard travel passes — Navigo and Île-de-France tickets — remain valid on these temporary replacement lines. To plan your daily journeys during this period, you can use the Île-de-France Mobilités route planner and the SNCF Connect app for real-time schedule updates. The official Ma Ligne P blog also provides regular updates on the measures in place.
For commuters heading into Paris each day, planning ahead with alternate routes from regional transfer stations can be quite helpful. The Tournan-en-Brie station remains accessible from Paris-Est via the unaffected branch of line P, and Gretz-Armainvilliers also provides convenient connection options. A detailed transportation plan will be shared by SNCF once it's finalized.
This summer construction work on the Transilien Line P in Seine-et-Marne is scheduled from July 13 to August 23, 2026. All practical information and the final transportation plan will be available on the Ma Ligne P website and on iledefrance-mobilites.fr. Remember to consider alternative options during this period!
