Bad news for public transport users travelling to or from the Gare du Nord station this Friday, March 7, 2025. Unusually, " an unexploded bomb from the Second World War has been discovered near the tracks " of this busy Parisian station.
According to SNCF management, who spoke to BFMTV, the discovery was made during the night, " while work was being carried out upstream of Paris Gare du Nord ", more precisely at Saint-Denis level, " 2.5 kilometers from the station, in the middle of the tracks ". Following the discovery, traffic was interrupted " at the request of the Paris Police Prefecture ", said the railway company, according to BFMTV.
Since this morning, train traffic has been interrupted and disrupted on many lines to and from Gare du Nord.
In detail, disruptions are currently being experienced on several lines in the Paris region, including RER lines B and D, as well as Transilien lines H and K. At a press briefing, Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot announced that the clearance operation had been completed, and that rail traffic would gradually resume"from 6pm".
On the RER B, traffic is disrupted between Gare du Nord and La Plaine - Stade de France in both directions. Note that traffic is disrupted on the rest of the line. Traffic is expected to resume gradually from 6pm. "Traffic will remain disrupted until the end of the day", says the Transilien SNCF website.
On the RER D, train traffic will be interrupted between Paris Gare de Lyon and Stade de France St-Denis in both directions, and " significantly slowed down on the rest of the line ". In addition, " journey times will be extended by around 25 to 30 minutes, as will changes to services and cancellations ", warns Transilien SNCF.
On Transilien line H , traffic is interrupted between Saint-Denis and Paris Gare du Nord. Here too, traffic should gradually resume from 6pm.
Finally, on the TransilienK line , trains are currently at a standstill between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Paris Gare du Nord in both directions. Here again, the resumption time is announced for 6pm.
What about Eurostar ? All Eurostar trains to and from Paris are cancelled this Friday. On the other hand,"Brussels-Marne La Vallée, London-Brussels and London-Amsterdam trains will run as normal", announces Eurostar.
For TER lines departing from and arriving at Gare du Nord,"traffic is also severely disrupted". Due to these disruptions, passengers are advised to use alternative routes.
