The day-to-day lives of healthcare professionals are often physically and emotionally demanding. Faced with these difficulties, theAssociation Franck Joffo (AFJ) was created in early 2024 to offer free legal support to hospital staff at theAssistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP).
Founded in memory of Parisian lawyer Franck Joffo, who died of a brain tumor at the end of 2023, this association responds to an essential need identified by Franck himself during his illness. Touched by the exceptional commitment of the healthcare professionals he met at the Pitié-Salpêtrière and Beaujon hospitals, he had noticed that these same professionals often lacked support in their day-to-day lives, particularly in helping them with administrative or legal formalities...Doctors, nurses and orderlies are there day and night to care for and help others, but who helps them?
For Alexandra Curiel Joffo: "Franck was carried along by the love of his family, but also by the support of the hospital staff, who showed remarkable humanity and dedication. He wanted to help them in turn, so he entrusted us with a mission when he left: to create this association to give back to those who give". That's why, since February 2025, AFJ has been fully operational at La Pitié-Salpêtrière, the largest hospital in Paris and Europe, already helping the 8,500 professionals who work there: Requests for legal support are numerous, testifying to the real need and positive impact of this solidarity initiative.
In practical terms, the association offers a dedicated website, www.franckjoffo.fr, where care staff can submit their legal queries easily and confidentially. Volunteer lawyers register online and handle requests according to their availability. They then advise the caregivers concerned directly on their personal difficulties in all areas of the law(family law, tenancy law, consumer law, etc.). Please note that disputes involving the AP-HP or contentious legal proceedings are not handled by the association.

The association is actively looking for new volunteer lawyers willing to give a little of their time to support these everyday heroes. A strong gesture to support those who take care of us every day.
