From April 16 to June 30, 2025, dogs will be able to roam freely every morning from 7am to 9am in a dedicated area of the Parc Monceau. This first-of-its-kind experiment in Paris is organized by the 8th arrondissement town hall, in partnership with the Monceau Dog Club.

Parc Monceau, in Paris's 8th arrondissement, is the setting for an original experiment: offering a space where dogs can roam off-leash, every morning from 7am to 9am, from April 16 to June 30, 2025. A measure designed to reconcile animal welfare and quality of life for local residents, in response to recurrent requests from dog owners.

After a first half-hearted attempt, which limited the presence of dogs to the side aisles and only on a leash, the 8th arrondissement town hall has decided to review its copy. With the support of the Monceau Dog Club, a new framework has been devised for this initiative, supervised by canine professionals and restricted to a specific area of the park.

The experiment is free of charge and is aimed at owners of educated and socialized dogs, to avoid any incidents with other park users. The times chosen - from 7am to 9am every day - are designed to minimize conflicts of use with walkers and families frequenting the area later in the morning.

Who would have thought it? Thrill seekers have been around for a long time and parachute jumping has been around since the 18th century. Much less secure than today, André Jacques Garnerin made the first jump in history above the Parc Monceau, in 1797. [Read more]

To mark the launch, an inaugural breakfast will be held on site on Wednesday April 16 from 7:30 am. This convivial event will give dog owners the opportunity to talk with the operation's organizers and supervisors.

The exact address of the event is 35, boulevard de Courcelles, Paris 8e, within the Parc Monceau. Admission is free, and the event is open to all. If successful, this experiment could well become a model for other arrondissements in the capital.
