The Paris inner ring road will be partially closed this Thursday, April 17, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. This measure, announced by the Préfecture de Police, follows an assessment mission organized on the site of the Syctom sorting center, severely damaged by fire on April 7 in a sorting center in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
The section of the inner ring road between Porte de Champerret and Porte de Clichy will be closed to traffic from 10 am to 1 pm. Access via Porte d'Asnières will also be completely blocked. This closure will take place after rush hour, but could still disrupt traffic on the bypasses.
This decision by the Préfecture de Police follows a scheduled technical survey operation at the Syctom sorting center, requiring the area to be completely secured. The damage to this essential infrastructure requires a secure perimeter for investigators and experts.
On the evening of Monday, April 7, 2025, a violent fire broke out at Syctom's sorting center on boulevard de Douaumont in the 17th arrondissement. This waste processing site, inaugurated in 2019, handled the waste of almost 900,000 residents of Paris and nearby communes such as Saint-Ouen and Clichy-la-Garenne.
Although there were no casualties, the fire left a lasting impression and caused considerable concern among local residents and employees. A police investigation was launched to determine the cause of the fire, which was thought to have started in the storage area. A week after the incident, firefighters were still mobilized on site.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area concerned during the morning of Thursday April 17, and to adapt their itinerary. It is not yet known whether further similar closures will be necessary in the coming days. A matter to be followed.
