Choose France, a summit organized by President Emmanuel Macron to promote the economic attractiveness of France, takes place this Monday, May 19 at the Château de Versailles. Since the previous day, strict parking (from 8am) and traffic (from midnight) bans have been in place in a wide area. Traffic is expected to return to normal on Monday night.
Since 8am on Sunday morning, parking has been prohibited around the château. Place d'Armes, the main tourist parking lot, is completely closed, as in previous years. Traffic has also been banned, except for local residents and professionals in possession of a permit, notably on rue Colbert and rue de la Chancellerie.
The security perimeter extends to part of the avenues de Paris, de Sceaux and de Saint-Cloud. On the latter, restrictions cover around 1 kilometer. Streets in the central escutcheon, such as those de l'Indépendance Américaine, des Récollets and des Réservoirs, are also affected.
The grounds of the Château de Versailles will be completely closed to the public on Monday May 19, for security reasons, the Yvelines prefecture has announced. Access to the state-owned Versailles forest is also restricted. The Porte Sainte-Antoine parking lot, between Place Gambetta and Rue de la Paroisse, remains inaccessible.
Traffic is expected to return to normal after midnight on Monday night. In the meantime, we invite you to plan ahead and use public transport to avoid the difficulties associated with these exceptional measures.
