A Parisian institution in the world of music and musicians is closing its doors on Friday, November 7, 2025. Paul Beuscher, the famous instrument and sheet music retailer, which has just celebrated its 175th anniversary, has announced the permanent closureof its website and its historic store in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.
"Despite all the efforts, all the motivation, the negotiations, all the changes—from the smallest to the most structural—and all the work accomplished by the Paul Beuscher teams in recent years, it is with immense sadness that we announce the closure of the store and website on Friday, November 7, 2025, marking the end of a Parisian institution recognized across the Atlantic that has just celebrated its 175th anniversary," reads a message posted on social media.
Paul Beuscher's business began in 1850 under the impetus of Hippolyte Beuscher, nicknamed Paul, a luthier at the time. In the 1940s, Paul Beuscher became a leading name in music publishing, signing several major standards such as "C'est si bon" by Henri Betti and André Hornez and "La Vie en rose" by Louiguy and Édith Piaf. In the 1960s, Paul Beuscher's publishing business expanded even further. The company began publishing sheet music for songs by Nino Ferrer, François Deguelt, and Pierre Vassiliu.
Later, Paul Beuscher stores became the leading importer of Gibson guitars in France! The brand also partnered with artists such as Les Têtes Raides and BB Brunes, and various events to share its passion and experience of music.
Over the years, the historic store, located at 27 Boulevard Beaumarchais in Paris's 4th arrondissement, had become a meeting place for several generations of musicians, from beginners to experts. Proof of its renown, since its opening, the Parisian store Paul Beuscher had seen a parade of big names in music, such as Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Steve Lacy, Cerrone, Charles Aznavour, -M-, Michel Polnareff, Maxime Le Forestier, Michel Jonasz and Eddy Michell.
"We will remember the joys, the laughter, the jams between salespeople and customers, the concerts in the store, the music festivals, the back-to-school season and the lively end-of-year celebrations... all the moments that made this place come alive. Paul Beuscher is no more, but the music lives on," the brand concluded in its post.
