After Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, and Essonne, the Val-d'Oise Prefecture has now announced the suspension of school transportation across the entire department on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, due to a heightened "snow-ice" orange alert.

Île-de-France is preparing for more snowfall. This Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the entire Île-de-France region has been placed on orange alert for snow and ice. The new snowstorm is expected to begin in the early morning, starting around 6 a.m. "All precipitation will fall as snow that immediately sticks to the ground," reports Météo France. They forecast total snowfall accumulations—over the entire event—to be around 3 to 5 centimeters, with local pockets reaching up to 7 centimeters, "particularly expected in the outer suburbs."

This fresh snowstorm could bring even more snowfall than the one experienced this Monday. As a reminder, road conditions across Île-de-France have been exceptionally challenging. Over 1,000 kilometers of traffic jams were recorded in the region around 5:30 p.m. on January 6th.

On Wednesday, January 7, in light of the fresh snowfall, Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot advises travelers in Île-de-France to “postpone” their trips and to “prefer remote work for those who can.”

Several prefectures across Île-de-France have announced that the ban on school transport will be maintained on January 7, 2026. In Yvelines, Essonne, and Seine-et-Marne, authorities have confirmed that school buses will not operate this Wednesday. The Essonne and Seine-et-Marne departments confirm that school bus services will remain suspended on January 7 due to weather conditions. The Val-d'Oise Prefecture also announced that school buses will be off the roads this Wednesday, citing weather as the reason. However, the Prefecture of Val-d’Oise emphasizes that all schools will remain open despite the transport disruptions.
