Throughout the year, RATP continues to undertake numerous projects aimed at modernizing the network and renovating stations. In 2026, several major works are scheduled, including on Line 8 of the metro, where République station will be closed for nine consecutive months starting July 22, 2026. Meanwhile, the Gare de Nation on the RER A line will be inaccessible for two months over the summer.
Additional work is scheduled on this heavily trafficked section of the RER A, which is used by over a million commuters daily. The RATP has announced a renewal program for tracks and ballast (RVB) on both eastern branches of the RER A, covering the stretch between Vincennes, Boissy-Saint-Léger, and Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy.
According to the RATP, the oldest tracks date back to the late 1970s, while the aging infrastructure on certain sections has been "accelerated by increased traffic, particularly due to the introduction of double-decker trains." To "ensure safety and maintain regular service," the transit authority plans to replace approximately 2,000 meters of track and four switches between Vincennes and Fontenay-sous-Bois. These essential repairs are expected to cause disruptions on Line A of the RER in the coming months.
So, what exactly should we expect? From April 17 to 30 and then from October 16 to 29, 2026, maintenance work will take place overnight to minimize disruption for travelers. During these periods, train services will be suspended starting at 10 p.m. between La Varenne-Chennevières and Boissy-Saint-Léger.
The RATP has announced a second phase of work on the eastern section of the RER A, scheduled from August 8 to August 23, 2026. During these 16 days of construction, service will be suspended around the clock between Vincennes and Noisy-le-Grand Mont d’Est. It’s also important to note that Nation station will be closed from June 29 through August 30, inclusive. Trains on Line A will pass through without stopping at this station during this period.
