Several major updates are set to transform public transportation in Paris and the Île-de-France region this year. Alongside the launch of the new Tzen 4 bus and the opening of the first section of Line 18, a new metro model, the MF19 metro, will be introduced in December 2026 on two lines — lines 3 bis and 7 bis.
Until then, modernization work continues underground. Some lines are more affected than others. One such line is Line 7bis, which will see its service completely halted during the winter holiday period. Specifically, metro traffic on the entire 7bis line will be suspended from February 21 to March 8 inclusive, due to ongoing modernization work, according to the RATP.
Let’s not forget that Line 7bis is the second shortest line in the Paris metro network, after Line 3 bis. With just eight stations, Line 7 bis is often considered one of the least busy routes in the Paris metro system. Despite this, it serves key stations such as Louis Blanc, Jaurès, and Buttes-Chaumont. It also provides transfer options with lines 2, 5, 7, and 11 of the metro, as well as tram T3b.
From February 21 to March 8 inclusive, the entire line of the metro will be closed. No trains will operate during this period, and the 8 stations on Line 7bis—Louis Blanc, Jaurès, Bolivar, Butte Chaumont, Botzaris, Place des Fêtes, Danube, and Pré Saint-Gervais—will be out of service.
During this winter break, commuters on Line 7bis will need to adjust and seek out alternative routes.
