Over the coming weeks and months, public transportation in Île-de-France will undergo several changes, including the launch of the first segment of Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express network.
Another innovation is set to turn heads. Have you heard about the Tzen 4? Dubbed "a world first", the Tzen 4 is a fully electric bus measuring 24 meters in length. Scheduled to roll out on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, according to Le Parisien, the Tzen 4 will replace the current bus line 402 over a 14 km stretch in Essonne. Specifically, the Tzen 4 will operate between “La Treille” in Viry-Châtillon and the RER station in Corbeil-Essonnes, which is considered the “most heavily used section of the Greater Paris suburbs,” according to Île-de-France Mobilités.
More than just a standard bus, the Tzen 4 is a "bi-articulated bus" capable of carrying up to 140 passengers, compared to 100 on the current line 402, which since January 6, 2025, has been renamed 4206. Beyond offering a "more comfortable" ride, this new vehicle aims to be "more efficient," thanks to dedicated lanes along most of the route and priority at intersections. It also boasts a commitment to being "more environmentally friendly." The Tzen 4 will operate with a "ground charging system completed in under 5 minutes"!
According to Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), more than 40,000 passengers are expected to use the Tzen 4 every day. It will pass through 5 communes (for a total of 30 stations), serving strategic neighborhoods such as the Grande Borne district and the ZAC Centre-ville in Grigny, the Plateau and Canal districts in Évry-Courcouronnes, the Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien and the ZAC de la Montagne des Glaises in Corbeil-Essonnes.
According to our colleagues at Le Parisien, who reached out to Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), the Tzen 4 is set to welcome its first passengers from February 10, 2026. This milestone will ease daily life for residents of Viry-Châtillon, Grigny, Ris-Orangis, Évry-Courcouronnes, and Corbeil-Essonnes.
