Paris and the Greater Île-de-France region on yellow alert for "rain and flooding" this Friday

Additionally, as of today, 24 departments across mainland France are under Météo France's yellow alert for "rain and flooding" on this Friday, February 13, 2026. The affected areas include Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Orne, Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher, Loiret, Marne, Aube, and Corsica's Southern department, but also the eight Parisian suburbs.

Thus, Paris and its inner suburbs (Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, and Seine-Saint-Denis), as well as the Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, and the Essonne are under a yellow alert this Friday for the risk of heavy rain and flooding. The Val-d'Oise, which had been spared until now, is finally also affected by this yellow vigilance.

According to Météo-France, the heaviest rainfall is expected across eight Île-de-France departments starting at 3 p.m. on February 13. These downpours are projected to continue into the evening and persist throughout the night into Saturday, tapering off around 7 a.m. As these areas are already under a yellow flood alert, the departments of Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, and Val-d’Oise will be under particular watch.

According to Météo France, " heavy rainfall can have serious consequences for the safety of people and property. It may lead to flooding caused by runoff or overflowing rivers." Additionally, motorists are urged to exercise the utmost caution during heavy rain. " Even moderate rain can reduce visibility and make it harder for drivers to see and be seen," warns the weather service. They also emphasize that " driving at high speeds increases the risk of hydroplaning and the danger involved."

Floods and Heavy Rain: How to Protect Yourself

  • Move away from rivers and streams, head to higher ground or find refuge on an upper level
  • Avoid driving onto flooded roads
  • Refrain from unnecessary travel
  • Stay informed and monitor rising water levels
  • Do not go down into basements
  • Protect your belongings by removing them from flood-prone areas
  • Locate your emergency kit

Additionally, according to Météo France, snow could make a comeback in Île-de-France overnight from Friday to Saturday. Flurries are also expected Saturday morning in Seine-et-Marne, followed by snowfall in the western part of the region during the night from Saturday to Sunday, and finally, again, in the morning of February 15th.
