Cable C1: Île-de-France’s cable car completely out of service for 11 days this summer.

This summer, the travaux will multiply underground. Traffic will notably be interrupted on the RER A, B, C and D, but also on metro lines 4, 8, 12 and 13 du métro.

Surface public transport will also be affected. That includes the tramways T1 and T2. In the air, the Val-de-Marne urban cable car will not be spared either. On social media, Île-de-France Mobilités announces that the famous Câble C1 will be totally shut down this summer for 11 consecutive days.

C1 Cable: the line will be fully closed from August 3 to 13, 2026, inclusive

In detail, "Line C1 will be completely closed, on weekdays and weekends, for its annual maintenance from August 3 to August 13, 2026 inclusive". As a result of these works, the five Île-de-France cable car stations—Créteil Pointe du Lac, Limeil-Brévannes - Plage Bleue, Valenton - Le Château, La Végétale - La Fontaine Saint-Martin, and Villa Nova—will be inaccessible for the entire duration of the project.

Bad news for users of Câble C1, who appear to have broadly embraced this new mode of public transport in Île-de-France. In fact, by the end of March the symbolic milestone of one million passengers carried had been reached.

Cable car fully closed for 11 days, the alternatives

So, how will commuters travel between Créteil and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges from August 3 to 13? What are the alternatives? Île-de-France Mobilités has announced the installation of replacement buses. These will serve the five stops of the cable car for the entire duration of the works.

Beyond these replacement shuttles, several regular bus routes connect the various stations. For instance, you can board bus N°428 to reach Limeil-Brévannes town hall from Créteil - Point du Lac. Meanwhile, bus N°430 links Limeil-Brévannes with the La Végétale station. Finally, the bus N°427 runs between Valenton and the Villa Nova terminus in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
