The Saint-Cloud tunnel, on the A13 motorway, will indeed be closed in the Paris-to-province direction from November 16, 2026 to August 31, 2027, i.e. for more than nine months. The closure runs from the périphérique to the Vaucresson interchange, in the Hauts-de-Seine (92), while the province-to-Paris direction remains open. A new development announced this Wednesday, September 16, 2026 by the regional prefecture: l'A14 passera à tarif réduit pendant toute la durée du chantier.
The north tube of the structure dates from the 1930s and is showing its age. The latest inspections revealed weaknesses which, according to Georges-François Leclerc, the prefect of Île-de-France and Paris, pose no immediate danger but make travaux de confortement inevitable within five to ten years.
The schedule has been brought forward for a specific reason: the passage of a tunnel-boring machine from the Grand Paris Express beneath the highway, at tunnel depth, for the Line 15 West project slated for 2027. It is impossible to let the machine pass under a century-old structure without first reinforcing it.
In practical terms, crews will pour a new reinforced concrete lining inside the existing tunnel. It’s a major civil engineering operation, estimated at €35 million and financed equally by the Société des grands projets and the state.
It's the main development since the July announcement. In Yvelines (78), several officials had been calling for toll-free status on the A14, the 21-kilometer stretch between La Défense and Orgeval. The regional prefecture ruled on September 16, 2026: it will be a discount, not a free passage.
The Saint-Cloud A13 works discount will be rolled out by the group Sanef and marketed through Bip&Go subscription plans starting October 1, 2026. It lets you pay half the Montesson toll for every trip on the A14.
The discount applies Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, to vehicles in classes 1, 2 and 5 (light vehicles and motorcycles). It covers the Paris-to-province direction from November 16, 2026, to the end of June 2027, and then both directions for the two summer months in 2027. With up to 80,000 vehicles a day, the A13 is among the region's busiest corridors. Two detour routes have been set up from the ring road: one via the RD910 then the RN118, with the option to reach the A86, RN12, A12 and A13; the other via the RN13 and then the A14.
These roads are at risk of filling up quickly. To prevent cars from funneling into the narrow streets of Saint-Cloud, Meudon, or Boulogne-Billancourt, a restricted-traffic zone will be established by prefectural decree, with the information relayed to GPS providers (Waze, Google) so they stop routing drivers there.

The sequence doesn’t end there. To keep the project on track, the A13 will also be closed in both directions in July and August 2027 to carry out maintenance on the Saint-Cloud viaduct. In other words, getaways to the Normandy coast will need to be planned in advance that summer.
The area had already endured a painful episode in spring 2024, with an abrupt two-month closure after a crack appeared linked to ground movement. This time, the shutdown is planned, leaving a few weeks to get organized.
