As work continues on the metro and RER into this new school year, the past weeks and months have been especially trying for passengers on two Transilien lines. As Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) stated in a press release, travelers on lines L and J faced disruptions that were long-lasting and cumulative between late March and mid-July 2026.
Due to the immobilization of part of the rolling stock, which occurred "following a defect on the track that damaged the wheels of several trains," Transilien SNCF had no choice but to cancel trains on lines J and L for several weeks, "while repairs are carried out on all damaged trains and passenger safety is ensured." "This situation was worsened by the fallout from the storm at the end of June, which caused a total interruption of service between Poissy and Les Mureaux from June 28 to July 5, significantly impacting the entire J line," adds IDFM, which notes that the line J was "especially affected by these train cancellations, notably from April 20 to the end of May."
In a press release published on July 21, 2026, Île-de-France Mobilités announced an exceptional refund aimed at the users of lines J and L, "in recognition of the significant difficulties experienced in recent months"; a request made by Valérie Pécresse, President of Île-de-France Mobilités, to Transilien SNCF Voyageurs.

But then, how can you benefit from it and what are the conditions? Only riders on lines J and L, who hold a Navigo subscription, can file a compensation request.
In concrete terms, subscribers on the ligne J will be eligible for a refund equivalent to one month of the Navigo pass, while users subscribed to the ligne L can apply for a refund equivalent to half a month of Navigo. As IDFM reminded, travelers on the ligne J were more affected by the disruptions than those on the ligne L.
Note that the reimbursement amount is calculated on the basis of a full Navigo monthly pass, i.e., the total price of the pass set at €90.80. Because the Navigo pass costs users €45.40 per month (with an employer contribution of at least 50% for 9 out of 10 Île-de-France users), "this reimbursement effectively covers two months of Navigo" for subscribers on line J, details Île-de-France Mobilités.
On the L line, the Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, Versailles Rive Droite, or Cergy-le-Haut routes qualify for a refund. On the J line, the Ermont Eaubonne, Mantes-la-Jolie via Conflans Sainte Honorine, Gisors, and Mantes la Jolie via Poissy routes are eligible for a refund request.
Two conditions must be met to qualify. Your home, workplace, or place of study must be located in one of the municipalities served by this axis. Find the list of municipalities served by line L here, and those served by line J here. Additionally, you must have held an eligible Navigo pass—monthly or annual—for four months during the disruption period, namely March, April, May, and June.
Navigo subscribers affected by the disruptions and who meet the eligibility criteria must log in through the reimbursement platform that goes live on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. "You can receive only one refund for this campaign," notes IDFM. Additionally, the deadline to file a claim is set for October 15, 2026, inclusive.
