If you had planned to ride the Paris public transport this Tuesday morning, you’ll need to seek alternatives. The RATP has announced temporary closures of several metro stations starting at 9:00 a.m. on 8 September 2026. In total, three stations are affected: Argentine (line 1), Kléber (line 6), and Charles de Gaulle–Étoile (lines 1 and 2). Note that the Charles de Gaulle – Étoile station on the RER A is also impacted.
"On September 8, 2026, the Charles de Gaulle – Étoile station will close from 9:00 a.m. (security measures at the request of the Police Prefecture). Trains will pass through without stopping. The station's reopening will require authorization from the Police Prefecture", can be read on X.
On the line 6, the RATP says traffic will be interrupted between Charles de Gaulle – Étoile and Kléber. So what does that mean? Starting this Tuesday, September 8, at 9 a.m., the provisional terminus on line 6 will be Boissière.
So why are these three stations closed this Tuesday? On its website, the RATP is listing “security measures requested by the Police Prefecture.” But as reported by our colleagues at Le Parisien and the Élysée, the capital is hosting the South Korean president for a state visit to mark the 140th anniversary of France-South Korea diplomatic ties. Ahead of a meeting at the Élysée, Lee Jae Myung will also stop at the Arc de Triomphe. The visit is therefore causing metro disruptions and the closure of three stations and one RER station this Tuesday from 9 a.m.
