Following the Paris demonstrations on October 6 and the large rally at Place de la Bastille on October 8, high schoolers and university students are calling to keep the pressure going. “As long as we don’t have 10 billion on the table, we will continue to mobilize,” said Sabrine Kharbach, spokesperson for the Student Union, at the October 8 gathering. “I’m calling everyone to join the mobilizations even more decisively… and to take part in nationwide protests starting this Tuesday,” she added.
Students can once again count on the support of teachers. "In line with their September 29 appeal and their backing of the high school protests", the national education unions have called for action on October 13, "notably through a strike". "We are calling for a strike by all personnel in National Education and higher education on Tuesday", said Caroline Cheuvé, secretary-general of the Unified Trade Union Federation (FSU), on October 8.
On its side, the UFSE CGT is calling public sector workers to participate, “by any means, including strikes,” in demonstrations planned nationwide on October 13, 2026. “We must stand with the youth to support them, to shield the marches, but also to demand the resources needed for all of our demands,” reads a statement issued by the union on October 9.
