Step into the underground history of the French capital at the Paris Sewers Museum, a one-of-a-kind attraction that reveals the hidden workings of one of the oldest and most intricate sewer systems in the world. Located amid the active tunnels of the Paris sewer network, the museum offers a sensory and educational journey through historic infrastructures that are still in use today.
The tour, lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes, takes visitors on a 500-meter exploration of tunnels beneath the Quai d’Orsay, close to the Alma Bridge. These corridors, through which the city's wastewater flows daily, serve as living witnesses to Paris’s technical and social evolution since the 19th century.
The museum is equipped to accommodate visitors with reduced mobility, including an elevator to access the tunnels. A steady temperature of 13°C and the characteristic odors of the sewers reinforce the authentic experience of this subterranean site.
