Woof! Once again this year, the Palm Dog Awards honored several dogs who wowed the jury with their performances at the Cannes Film Festival 2023!

The winners of the Cannes Film Festival 2023 have been announced. After the Semaine de la Critique and the Quinzaine des Cinéastes, the winners of the Palm Dog 2023 have now been announced. Created in 2001, the Palm Dog is awarded each year to the dog or dogs that have made the biggest impact on the screen in the films in the Official Selection and the Parallel Selections.

After Brit, the poodle from War Pony, this year's winner is none other than Snoop, the border collie from Justine Triet's Anatomie d'une Chute! Snoop is the dog of the family's visually-impaired son, and won over the jury, particularly in a scene where he plays the sick man!

But this Cannes fortnight really had a dog in it (!), and other 4-legged companions also left the Croisette with awards! Chaplin, the dog in Aki Kaurismäki's Les Feuilles Mortes, won the Grand Prix du Jury, while Sultan, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Stéphane Castang's Vincent doit mourir , received the Prix de l'Incroyable Performance.

But the Palm Dog also honored one filmmaker with a Palm Dog of Honor for lifetime achievement: Ken Loach, with a special mention for Marra, the dog in his latest feature, The Old Oak, presented in Official Selection!
