Alain Guiraudie is at home at the Cannes Film Festival. After Le Roi de l'évasion (presented in the Directors' Fortnight at the 2009 Cannes Festival), the excellent L'Inconnu du lac (Un certain regard director's prize at the 2013 Cannes Festival) and Rester vertical (in official competition at the 2016 Cannes Festival), he's back at the Cannes 2024 Festival with his new feature film.
Entitled Miséricorde, the film stars Catherine Frot, Félix Kysyl(Le Consentement), Jacques Develay, Jean-Baptiste Durand and David Ayala. Jérémie returns to Saint-Martial for the funeral of his former baker boss. For a few days, he stays with Martine, his widow. But between a mysterious disappearance, a threatening neighbor and an abbot with strange intentions, his short stay in the village takes an unexpected turn...
As usual, Alain Guiraudie filmed in the countryside, in the village of Sauclières in his native Aveyron. " It's a film about the circulation of desires, bodies and glances between men", explained Thierry Frémaux.
