Emmanuel Courcol, screenwriter of films by Philippe Lioret (including Welcome, which was nominated for a César for Best Original Screenplay) and Édouard Bergeon(Au nom de la Terre and La promesse verte) presents his third feature film, En Fanfare, in the Cannes Première section of the 2024 Festival.
The story is that of Thibaut, a renowned orchestra conductor. Stricken with leukemia, he sets out to find a compatible donor for a bone marrow transplant. Learning that he is an adopted child, he discovers the existence of an older brother in the North of France. The latter, a modest employee, is also a trombonist in a municipal brass band that is in the process of disbanding. Against the backdrop of the closure of the town's only factory, their meeting marks the beginning of a fraternal, social and musical adventure...
En Fanfare will feature Benjamin Lavernhe(L'Abbé Pierre - Une vie de combats), Pierre Lottin(La Nuit du 12) and Sarah Suco.
This is the second time thatEmmanuel Courcol has walked the red carpet as a director, following the presentation at Cannes 2020 of his film Un Triomphe, starring Kad Merad.
