The Immersive Competition is a new selection of the Cannes Festival 2024 that celebrates new technologies.

The Cannes Film Festival 2024 unveils a brand-new selection, the Immersive Competition, held at the Cannes Cineum and Université Côte d'Azur, which includes collective virtual reality installations, mixed reality experiences, as well as video mapping and holographic works.

In all, 8 projects have been selected to "showcase the avant-garde of this new art form, challenging established conventions, embracing new technologies and celebrating new artists as well as established figures." 6 works will also be presented out of competition. They"explore the evolution of the medium and draw parallels between virtual reality, virtual production, cinema and collective storytelling."

The award for Best Immersive Work will be presented at a closing ceremony on May 23.
