Following the announcement of the official selection, La Semaine de la Critique now unveils the films that will make up its program for the Cannes Film Festival 2025. Organized by the Syndicat français de la critique de cinéma, this parallel selection is dedicated to first and second features, with the aim of bringing out new talent in world cinema.
This year, 11 films were selected: 7 in competition and 4 presented as special screenings. Pauline Loquès' first feature, Nino, starring Théodore Pellerin, William Lebghil and Salomé Dewaels, was among the films shortlisted for the Semaine de la Critique awards.
La Semaine de la Critique 's biography of the director: "After studying literature and law, Pauline Loquès sought to quench her thirst for writing in journalism. After working as an editor for cultural programs, she began training as a screenwriter. For her first work, she opted for simplicity and humility, choosing to portray those around her as sincerely as possible in La vie de jeune fille. In the same vein, Pauline Loquès went on to write and direct her first feature film, Nino."
Nino will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The official release date in French theaters has not yet been announced.
Synopsis: In just three days, Nino faces a life-changing challenge. Until then, doctors entrust him with two crucial missions. These tasks take him across Paris, guiding him to reconnect with others—and himself.
