For some years now, the Champs-Elysées district has been losing one cinema after another... Temporarily closed for renovations, theElysées Lincoln was fortunately reborn on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Inaugurated in 1969 by Boris Gourevitch and Jean-Paul Thirriot, it occupies number 14 rue Lincoln in Paris's 8th arrondissement, just a stone's throw from the famous avenue. It is one of the capital's leading independent art cinemas.
The eclectic releases of the week are shown in three comfortable theaters, the Studio, Audito and Club, seating just under 250, and the cinema also hosts numerous events such as the Champs Elysées Film Festival. This historic cinema on a human scale has been in the same family for four generations, and has been keen to modernize in order to continue to stand the test of time, in the hands of Louis and Samuel Merle, who run Multiciné(7 Parnassiens and 5 Caumartin).
In terms of decor, the atmosphere is more reminiscent of the birth of cinema, with cosy armchairs, patterned carpets, wood panelling and vintage, for a warmer screening that's just as high quality as in a large group. For the reopening, the first film screened will be Jafar Panahi's Palme d'Or winner from the last Cannes Film Festival, Un Simple accident, which inaugurates the new Élysées Lincoln on October 1, 2025.
As Marc-Antoine Jamet, President of the Comité Champs-Élysées, puts it:"the Lincoln joins the Balzac and the Publicis to form a holy trinity devoted to the Lumière brothers", a real pleasure for cinema-goers on the avenue, who are returning to a venue that was dear to their hearts. Tickets cost €6.50 with the Multiciné card, €14 full price and €6 for young people under 27. If you come before midday, the rate is 8.50€.
