Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, directed by James Gunn, is an action, sci-fi and comedy film released in 2017 starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista. Synopsis: In 1980, in Missouri, the alien Ego, who had taken on human form, fell in love with Earth girl Meredith Quill, and from their union Peter, aka Star-Lord, was born. Thirty-four years later, Peter and the Guardians of the Galaxy, employed by the powerful Sovereigns, are working on a high-risk space platform. Their mission accomplished, they are rewarded with the release of Gamora's sister Nebula. Shortly afterwards, at the end of a Homeric chase, the Guardians cross paths with Ego, who introduces himself to his son.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a continuation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film explores Peter Quill's family ties in greater depth, while enriching the narrative arcs of the other characters. The tone alternates between spectacular action, offbeat humor and more intimate moments.
Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot, iconic figures introduced in the first opus, are back. New characters from the Marvel comics appear, expanding the plot and the galactic universe. These additions are sure to appeal to viewers familiar with the original comics.
This second installment should appeal to fans of superheroes, space stories and action comedies. Audiences who enjoyed the first Guardians of the Galaxy film (2014) or other Marvel productions such as Thor: Ragnarok (2017) may be interested in this blend of cosmic adventure and humor.
