Finally, something new for Pokémon Champions! On the occasion of Pokémon Presents, held this July 22, 2025, Game Freak revealed a little more about the game centered around Pokémon arena battles. Scheduled for release in 2026, the game has a special feature: it will be available on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices (IOS and Android), so you can play anywhere.
" Everything you love about Pokémon battles, all in one place - that's Pokémon Champions! This all-new title focused on Pokémon battles will include classic gameplay mechanics, such as types, talents and abilities, to provide a rich environment conducive to varied strategies, which should delight novices and long-time fans alike. "
It's time to find out, once and for all, who the best trainer is. Pokémon Champions focuses on arena battles, where the types, talents and abilities of your monsters will be decisive. On the device of your choice, you can play against other trainers from all over the world.
According to the images in the trailer, it will be possible to activate tetracrystallization or mega-evolution during battle , to give your champions a boost.
To add even more Pokémon to your team, this game should also be paired with Pokémon Home, the application that lets you transfer and exchange the Pokémon you've captured between different compatible games. You can complete your Pokédex by transferring data between games such as Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Pokémon Sparkling Diamond, Pokémon Sparkling Pearl, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Pokémon Champions also unveiled several new features during the Pokémon Presents broadcast on July 22, 2025. Players can temporarily test certain Pokémon through trial recruitment, or integrate them permanently by spending Victory Points (VPs), earned in particular in ranked battles. These VPs are also used to improve Pokémon characteristics. Three battle formats are offered, each available in Solo or Duo mode:
Ranked battles: against players from all over the world, ranked by level.
Friendly battles: no-stakes games to test your team in a more relaxed setting.
Private battles: duels between friends in a dedicated virtual room.
These additions reinforce the game's strategic and community dimensions.
At the time of release, Pokémon Champions will only offer a limited number of creatures, so we're looking forward to future updates that will gradually expand our possibilities.
