"You have been approached by the last sorcerer of the Belladonna Convent. He relies on you to recover the stolen Black Stone. The Inquisition, led by Heinrich Kramer, has captured some witches and stolen the stone. Together with the Supreme, you'll have to devise a plan of action to defeat the Inquisitor and save this endangered world. Get ready for a fantastic experience in the magical atmosphere of the Belladonna Convent. You'll have to come up with a plan to defeat the Inquisitor and recover the stone. The Supreme, the Convent's last survivor, will help you wield the power to save Lea's legacy. Hurry before the magic is extinguished forever!
What more can we say about this adventure? During a presentation of this unique room (we got to meet the witches and the inquisitor...), Le Donjon told us that the experience deals with the inquisition in the Middle Ages and the malleus maleficarum. A room that pushes the limits ofescape games, with actors and voice-overs. A room with a world somewhere between Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast and Sleepy Hollow. The rest is a surprise... The team had the chance to test this escape room on a chilly autumn morning... A breezy morning, even — perhaps the first ominous signs of a curse? That’s at least what our host, waiting for us at a strategic spot, explained. The adventure kicks off in the streets of Paris, specifically on the Place de la République. Once everyone’s gathered (and don’t be late!), we head to a tucked-away location (that’s why the game master comes to meet you) to dive straight into the action.
You start by stashing your belongings in chests that must be opened using magic (though we aren’t told how). Then, the quest begins. Regarding puzzles, they’re quite accessible and engaging enough to involve everyone, while also providing a decent challenge for your entire team. Be aware that dark mages lurk nearby, forcing you to stay quiet so as not to alert them... But don’t worry, it’s all in good fun. The pace is lively, with little room for boredom or overthinking, making for a seamless, nonstop adventure. That said, seasoned players might find the puzzles somewhat simplistic and may end up a bit disappointed.
As for the decor, it’s a real knockout! Everything feels incredibly immersive, and the cave housing the coven’s lair is stunning — filled with spellbooks and potions... in fact, you’ll even get to brew some potions during your journey. At one point, you’ll also encounter the Inquisitor... A few tips nonetheless: come dressed comfortably and without fear of getting a little dirty, as crawling is often required to access different areas of the escape game.
Finally, just enjoy yourselves! There’s nothing too daunting here, and the abundant magic will naturally guide you through each step. A special mention for the special effects, quite well executed and subtle (you won’t notice the tricks). In conclusion? We’ve managed to save the magic — and that’s what matters most... Now it’s your turn to form your own opinion!
