Nioh 3: A playable demo coming soon for Team Ninja's intense new title on PS5

Nioh returns to consoles! Team Ninja has revealed Nioh 3, the highly anticipated new installment in the dark fantasy series set to launch on PS5 and Steam starting February 6, 2026. Check out the trailer.

This new opus was unveiled by surprise at the State of Play in June 2025, and is now eagerly awaited by fans of the saga. Studio Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo have lifted the veil on Nioh 3, a brand-new game from the dark fantasy saga. In a new trailer released this September 24, 2025, we discover theaction-RPG: Nioh 3 plunges players into the heart of a feudal Japan ravaged by yōkai. The game is due for release on PS5 and Steam on February 6, 2026.

If you're eager to dive in without waiting any longer, here's some good news: a playable demo is set to launch on January 29, 2026. The demo will feature, among other things, a multiplayer mode supporting up to three players—giving fans a chance to get immersed in the game before its official release.

Synopsis of Nioh 3:

"Face fearsome yokai, explore villages where ominous creatures lurk, meet the terrible challenges of Purgatory and discover new environments both exhilarating and hostile, as you struggle to survive the cursed kingdom!".

In Nioh 3, players take on the role of a young warrior destined for the title of shogun, evolving in the troubledSengoku era. This sequel focuses on strategic, fast-paced gameplay, enriched by two distinct fighting styles: the Samurai style, close to previous episodes, offers new features such as Mastered Arts and Deflection, for last-ditch parrying. The Ninja style, on the other hand, relies on speed, dodging and air strikes, with techniques such as Fog (a clone after the attack) or Dodge (emergency evasion). Players can switch from one style to another at any time, making for dynamic, adaptive confrontations.

The game environment also evolves: " an open zone full of challenges ", according to the developers. Nioh 3 's Japan offers freer exploration, among hostile villages, occult secrets and supernatural monsters. Players will have to triumph over trials in a dark and sinister world, notably in a zone called Purgatory. Another major addition is a character creation system, carried over from the previous opus and still under development in this demo.

Bloody battles, challenges to prove your worth, and opponents ready to do anything to become a shogun: Nioh 3 embarks us on an epic adventure, but reserved for ages 18 and up. We can't wait to find out more about this game.
