One of the surprises revealed during the Game Awards ceremony was the debut trailer for 4:Loop. This upcoming cooperative shooter is set to be released on PS5 and PC. The game is developed by Bad Robot Games, the studio founded by Bad Robot, the company behind hits like Westworld, Lost, Mission Impossible, and Star Wars.
« Developed by Mike Booth and the interactive writers at Bad Robot Games, 4:LOOP is a cooperative tactical shooter for four players, crafted to deliver endless replayability and limitless ways to assemble the ultimate team. Together, while learning from your mistakes, you might just face the challenge of saving the world—or not. »
Earth has been overrun, its inhabitants turned to statues in just a matter of minutes. Now, the time for revenge has arrived. In this shooting game, Bad Robots Games immerses us in a science fiction universe where teamwork is key. Indeed, 4:Loop is designed for co-op play, with four players working together as a team.
This first teaser trailer offers only a glimpse so far: we see various environments—an urban suburb, a forest, an industrial zone... We also get a first look at a key gameplay element: when your character dies, they come back to life, and it appears that the team must restart the mission, learning from previous failures. However, the finer details of this mechanic remain under wraps for now.
It’s highly likely that failure is an integral part of the game. Towards the end of the trailer, you can hear: "Come now, and fail to save the world". The game 4:Loop seems to follow the classic "die and retry" approach: players must die repeatedly until they figure out the right way to defeat the enemies.
To learn more about 4:Loop, we'll have to wait for future announcements. In the meantime, we can always sharpen our sharpshooting skills.
