In Bastille, the Cité des Taillandiers will swing open the doors to its studios on September 11 and 12, 2026. During Paris Design Week, artisans and designers will showcase their know-how, materials, and the behind-the-scenes of their work.

Every year, the Paris Design Week turns Paris into a live, large-scale showcase of contemporary design. From September 10 to 19, 2026, galleries, studios, institutions and more intimate venues participate with exhibitions, installations and conversations that reveal not only the creations but also the minds behind them and the hands that craft them. It’s a terrific chance to go behind the scenes, observe craftsmanship up close, and step through doors to spots usually harder to access.

In the 11th arrondissement, the Cité des Taillandiers really leans into its open-doors spirit for Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12, 2026. Based at 7 Rue des Taillandiers, near Bastille, this artisan hub has, since 2021, brought together about twenty artisans, artists, designers and visual artists under one roof of workshops.

For Paris Design Week, the public will exceptionally be allowed behind closed doors to discover the diversity of practices: the ceramics by Magali Satgé and Ulrike Weiss, the jewelry by Julia Bartsch, the sculpture by Maxime Bellaunay, the paper by Aurely Cerise, the material painting by Mayeul Gauvin, the object design by Pauline Androlus or Samuel Tomatis, not to mention the plant design by Petite Nature.

Here, there’s no stagecraft to keep visitors at arm’s length: the design unfolds up close, through gestures, tools and materials, where ideas truly take shape.
