In September, Paris not only showcases design – it lets it take over the city. With Paris Design Week, private mansions, gardens, galleries, and institutions become playgrounds for designers to test shapes, materials, and uses in the urban setting. Visitors can move from a piece of furniture to an immersive installation, from artisanal technique to a more experimental concept, without being stuck behind a shop window. A grand immersion in contemporary creativity, free of charge and scattered across the capital, to be discovered from September 10 to 19, 2026.

This year, one of the most distinctive meetings unfolds at the Hôtel de Sully, the splendid private mansion in the Marais and home to the Centre des monuments nationaux, where Joseph Walsh unveils Arcanum Formæ from September 10 to October 25, 2026. In the Orangery, the gardens, and the inner courtyard, the Irish artist-designer pairs his free-form shapes with the venue’s classical geometry, bending ash, oak, bronze, and gold as sculptures seem to defy gravity. Among them, the Magnus series is unveiled to the European public for the first time, while tables, chairs, and sculptural pieces extend this kinetic language. Born in Cork County in 1979, Joseph Walsh founded his studio at 20 and has since developed a highly personal fusion of art, design, and cabinetmaking, driven by experimental wood-working techniques. His works are now in the collections of the Centre Pompidou, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
At Sully, Walsh’s curvilinear forms find a fitting frame.
